D of E news
Two groups of Silver DofE students from Year 10 completed their Silver Training Expedition in the Berwyns near Llangollen between the 30th April – 2nd May 2015. They walked for 3 days covering around 10km per day and camped for two nights in Cynwyd and Carrog. Group morale and teamwork were tested as they had to tackle some very steep hills and very cold & wet weather on the last day. However they did brilliantly and are now all ready to face their Qualifying expedition in July.
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Training Walk.
A fantastic afternoon was had by the new Bronze Duke of Edinburgh participants who took part in their first training walk along the Sandstone trail in Cheshire. They had their first taste of navigation and walked a total of 6.5 miles. At the end of the walk they learnt how to use Trangia stoves and cooked a well deserved curry and rice for their tea!
