DofE Gold Students Prepare for Expeditions
Gold DofE students from Sir John Talbot’s School have spent two days at Nantyr Outdoor Education Centre near Glyn Ceiriog, completing the final training for their first expedition in April.
During the trip, the students worked on compass skills, learnt about the Countryside Code and practiced weather forecasting. They also had some surprise first aid scenarios presented to them while out on a walk. During the drills, the students had to assess the casualties and make some important first aid decisions. Thankfully First Aid Instructor, Shane Leavesley, and Director of Humanities, Roger Sanders, both survived the experience!
