The A Level Philosohy and Ethics students represented the school excellently once again at the Ethics Conference ‘All you need is love’ held by Dr Peter Vardy in Manchester on 1st February 2016.
Students heard Dr. Vardy speak about the following issues: whether there any real difference between humans and animals; the ethics of making babies – the traditional way, via IVF/IVM, three parent babies, genetically modifying and embryos; whether everyone has the right to a child and whether or not love really exists, and if it does, should it form the basis of our ethical decisions. The afternoon provided an opportunity for students to be involved in the debate themselves.
