Support and Guidance

At Sir John Talbot’s our ethos of “Achievement Respect Community” embodies the holistic approach that we take to supporting students, so that they may achieve in all aspects of their development. We aim to enhance their life chances for the future by providing tailored support throughout their time in school.

We endeavour to ensure that students and parents are provided with independent advice and guidance, whenever required, to assist with making important academic or career decisions, as well as offering emotional or medical advice if needed.

All students are assigned a form tutor in Year 7 and this relationship develops and grows throughout a child’s time at Sir John Talbot’s, providing crucial support and an essential link between academic, social and pastoral aspects of school life. The Head of Upper and Lower School plus the Assistant Head of Upper and Lower School also play a vital role in the support network, alongside pastoral staff, teachers and members of the Student Support Centre.

A dedicated team of staff are based permanently in The Pastoral Hub, SEAL Room and The Student Support Centre, ensuring that students receive an outstanding level of care, at all times. Both facilities provide quiet, calm, positive environments, to enable staff to work on a one-to-one basis with students when required.
