Sir John Talbot’s Business Club – 11th May 2016

vic-white-bwAfter the great success of its inaugural forum last September, Sir John Talbot’s School is very pleased to announce that locally-based entrepreneur Vic Morgan will be heading up the next Business Club on Wednesday 11th May, where he will be discussing technology and digital innovation as well as the importance of focussing on people and relationships at all levels in order to achieve business success.

American-born Vic has over 25 years’ experience in global business, specialising in digital innovation, online trading and ethical commerce. A serial entrepreneur, today Vic is the founder and Managing Director of Venture Stream Ltd, a full-service agency specialising in digital marketing and e-commerce ventures, with an impressive client portfolio that includes The Pen Shop, Barbour, Planet Organic, Yogamatters, Smithers-Oasis and Ringtons.

After graduating with an MBA from Harvard Business School, Vic gained success as a management consultant and dot-com entrepreneur in New York, where he co-founded his first pioneering dot-com business, oneNest.com, with its mission to help bridge the digital divide by promoting handmade products from producers around the globe. Trading with producers in over 50 countries, oneNest.com was sold to Novica National Geographic retail division in 2002.

Not long after, Vic made a pilgrimage to the UK, co-founding PointOV, a digital agency working with values-based organisations making a difference in the world, assisting with the launch of record label Fair Trade Media and the acclaimed Make Poverty History campaign. In 2006 Vic created Ethicalsuperstore.com, an ethical online department store selling gifts, gadgets and groceries. The UK-based ‘ethical Amazon’ quickly rose to national prominence as market leader and was sold to a national fulfilment business Spark Response in 2011.

With a vast experience of transforming the commercial success of businesses through the use of modern technology, Vic has a wealth of help and tips to offer the local business community about how to achieve success through digital innovation.

The Business Club event, which is sponsored by Whitchurch’s largest employer, Grocontinental, aims to bring together the local business community and combine the chance to hear from inspirational guest speakers with opportunities for informal business networking.

Headteacher, David O’Toole, spoke about his excitement in welcoming Mr Morgan to the school, saying, “It is a great privilege to welcome Vic Morgan to the school. His vast knowledge and experience in a vital and ever-changing area of modern business will be invaluable to a great many in the local business community. The aim of our Business Club forum is to bring members of this local community together on an informal and regular basis, to meet and inspire one another, and to hear from a range of interesting, engaging and motivational speakers. Vic embodies all of these qualities and much more, and with his focus on how nurturing relationships at all levels can help owners achieve business success, the talk will be of benefit to anyone running a business in our community.”

The event will take place at the school between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Anyone wishing to attend can book a place by contacting Adam Howes at howes.a@marchesschool.net or by calling him on 01691 664473.
