Taster Days at Sir John Talbot’s Sixth Form
Sir John Talbot’s Sixth Form in Whitchurch will be opening its doors throughout February to prospective learners from the surrounding schools across Shropshire. Taster Days have been arranged during the month to enable Year 11 students to experience first-hand the range of facilities and A Level subjects available at Sir John Talbot’s School.
Sir John Talbot’s Sixth Form provides a strong post-16 education provision offering a broad range of subjects including Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Fine Art and Photography, Psychology, Music, Theatre Studies and Sport.
Michelle Jones, Associate Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form said, “The range of subjects we offer continues to grow year on year based upon our ability to listen to and respond to the needs and interests of our learners. We have a dedicated Sixth Form provision with suitably equipped study rooms.”
Sir John Talbot’s Sixth Form is proud of its dedicated and experienced staff providing high levels of student support whilst promoting independent learning. All students benefit from a full and varied enrichment programme offering many opportunities for wider experiences and are encouraged to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). This is achieved alongside their chosen subjects and enhances their learning experience and their development of further skills, recognised by many universities.
Michelle Jones commented, “We have developed strong connections with local businesses to ensure that the courses we offer and our delivery method is continually enriched in line with industry requirements and to ensure students are equipped with the necessary skills for future employment.”
David O’Toole, Headteacher said, “We welcome this opportunity for young students to experience the range of subjects available to them to enable them to make an informed choice. We pride ourselves on laying strong, dynamic learning foundations that students can continue to build on, whichever path they choose next.”
During the Taster Days students will be welcomed by the Head of Sixth Form, will be taken on guided tours and will have the opportunity to take part in subject lessons by specialist teachers. Parent meetings and tours are also available upon request.
Students can register their interest in the taster days online and the school will be in contact with students shortly afterwards. For more information, please contact Michelle Jones, Associate Assistant Headteacher/Head of Sixth Form on 01691 664400 or email email@example.com.
