Equine Assisted Learning Sessions

We have a new group of students enjoying the benefits of Equine Assisted Learning sessions.

Supervisor, Mrs Welch comments; “The students have been getting to know the ponies and as a result, it is lovely to see their confidence and ability to work as a team improving all the time. The group have been exploring mindfulness through an activity called ‘In the pasture’. This involves the students taking part in an observation exercise, where they just focus on being still and using their five senses. The students then re-group and we talk about the experience. A participant may write down ‘I hear the leaves rustling in the wind; I love this sound as it reminds me winter is coming’. Emotional awareness is so important and taking time out to just be with nature calms the soul young and old alike”.
