Sixth Form Dress Code

The following table is the Sir John  Talbot’s Sixth Form Dress Code. It should be adhered to at all times throughout the academic year.

For clarification on any clothing, please speak to one of the Sixth Form team.


Appropriate for School Not appropriate for School
All students should wear smart, modest work style wear.

You set an example for other students in school, please remember that you are dressing for a school setting.

If you are unsure whether your choice of clothes is suitable, please ask a member of the Sixth Form team before you wear it into school.

  • Casual round neck t-shirts (unless shirt worn over the top)
  • Denim Jackets
  • Sportswear (including tracksuit style bottoms)
  • Obvious logos or pictures on any item of clothing
  • Jeans of any description
  • Ripped clothes
  • Hoodies
  • Sports, denim or casual style shorts
  • Hats or Caps
  • Visible underwear/ bare midriffs (shoulders covered)
  • Casual Shoes including open toe sandals, canvas shoes or trainers, Vans or Converse (even leather ones) or flip flops
  • Leggings or Jeggings
  • Leather or mock leather clothing of any kind
  • Short and or stretchy, elasticated skirts or dresses
  • Extreme hair styles/unnatural colours
  • Fashion tights (tights worn should be a solid colour)
  • Visible tattoos
  • Facial piercings

This list is not exhaustive, if you choose to wear something which does not fit within the spirit of the policy or is unsuitable to wear on the main school site you may be asked to go home and change.
