Uniform 

Some guidance pictures are included to further ensure that our families are clear about expectations. 

With all aspects of school uniform, we do our upmost to provide images of acceptable and unacceptable uniform, to allow correct choices to be made when purchasing. If in doubt please refer to this information prior to making purchases. It is the discretion of the school to make decisions regarding uniform that does not conform to the requirements of the school code of dress. If you have any questions or wish to discuss any element of the policy before you buy items, please do get in touch. Please remember that choosing Sir John Talbot’s School implies a willingness to conform to school uniform guidelines at all times.

This policy is fully endorsed and approved by the school’s board of governors. The school views the wearing of correct uniform as a key element of the schools identity and standards as a community. Any fashion trend which may from time to time become popular should be reserved for leisure wear outside school and should not be worn to school.

The uniform consists of: 

• A branded, grey, V-neck jumper. Year 11 wear a branded black V-neck jumper
•  A plain white shirt/blouse 
• Branded school tie 
• Plain black trousers* or plain black knee length pleated skirt** 
• Tailored black shorts can be worn during the Summer Term 
• Shoes – must be plain black leather style (trainers, canvas-style and ballet/dolly pumps are not permitted) 

*Trousers and shorts must be smart school-style only. Trousers must not be skin tight below the knee, hipster style or legging style. Material must not be cord, denim, stretch legging style or canvas/jean-style cotton and should not contain cargo pockets or logo labels. 

**Skirts must be tailored in style with no fashion detailing such as pockets, patches, or zips. 

For PE students will require: 

• A branded PE polo shirt 
• Black PE shorts/skort/leggings 
• Branded PE mid layer (pictured above, not compulsory but no other jumper is permitted) 
• Yellow football socks either plain or branded alternatively white trainer socks are permitted 
• Football boots 
• Shin pads 
• Mouth guards (recommended) – can be purchased from the PE office 
• Black base layers

School Shop Direct are open each day including school holidays and uniform is available to order via these channels:

• Main Shop – Uniform will be available from the Whitchurch Shop, 9 Bredwood Arcade, Whitchurch, Shropshire, SY13 1AF.
• Online – uniform will be available to buy online.
• Telephone – orders can be placed by telephone, please call 01948 838747.
