A look back to our Computing Club activities

A look back to activities taken place in Computing Club over the last term with Mrs Elms and Mr Campbell.

Students participated in ‘Mission Zero’, where they developed programs to display a message to the astronauts onboard the International Space Station. All teams submitted their programs and they will all receive a certificate in June showing them where exactly the ISS was when their program ran. We look forward to receiving these.

In January, Year 10 Computer Scientists and Computing Club members participated in the Matrix Challenge (a cyber skills competition for 11 to 17 year olds in the UK). Students completed stage 1 where they had to solve five cyber mini tasks on line. Zach Booth in Year 10 managed to achieve an amazing 315 out of 335 points resulting in him ranking 84th out of 3000 participants in the West Midlands area! As a result, Zach has been invited to the semi-final stage hosted by the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit. We wish Zach the very best of luck.
