The Sky is the Limit for SJT

Sir John Talbot’s School is celebrating following the release of the Progress 8 and Attainment 8 scores. The school is now positioned as one of the best schools in Shropshire.

The school, which is a part of the Marches Academy Trust, was placed in Special Measures a little over five years ago. Through the guidance of Headteacher, Mr David O’Toole, the dedicated and the hardworking staff at Sir John Talbot’s the school is now reaping the rewards, shown by the fantastic position on the league table.

The Progress 8 score, which measures how much progress students have made between the end of Key Stage 2 and the end of Key Stage 4, compared to students with a similar set of results at the end of Key Stage 2. With a Progress 8 score of 0.4, Sir John Talbot’s is part of only 17% of schools in England being above average.

Mr David O’Toole commented: “I am delighted with the position of Sir John Talbot’s School and it shows the hard work and dedication from all of the staff, parents and students is paying off and the school really is now becoming the school of choice locally in North Shropshire. The league tables are just one part of the school’s achievement and the excellent facilities, enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular offerings ensure that students are at the centre of everything we do in this one learning community across the Marches Academy Trust.”
